Aaaaah, Easter, how I love you, you glorious 4 day extravaganza of chocolatelyness.
I’m not even going to tell you how many calories and how much bad fat and refined sugar are one of those gorgeous little gold-wrapped bundles of cuteness, the Lindt Bunny.
Actually, yes I am, because sometimes shock therapy is the only way.
OK, so a 200g Milk Chocolate Bunny has 1086 calories. It delivers you 200% of your recommended daily allowance of saturated fats and has a whopping 98g of sugar.* (* Source: Calorie King Au)
I know. I wept for hours.
A big bad wolf in bunny clothing.
As yummy as they are (and they are yummy), this year, for me, will be the first one without my little mate.
So I’ve searched the world wide web to find some healthier treats that won’t send my blood sugar levels sky-rocketing into outer space or clog up my arteries before the end of the school holidays. And here they are. I’ve done a bit of research, I’ve even tried a couple of these already, and I think you’ll love them.
Here you go, five awesome healthy Easter Treats to try this weekend. Let me know how you go.
Healthy Hot Cross Buns from Lorna Jane’s Move Nourish Believe
These were really good. I even took it a step further and made them dairy-free by using cacao nibs instead of choc chips and oat milk. I also added a little nutmeg.
Homemade Sugar Free Chocolate Easter Eggs from Sarah Wilson’s I Quit Sugar
These look a bit fiddly, but utterly delicious. You’ll need egg moulds and some patience when you’re assembling the eggs together, but if you have the time, it will be soooooooo worth it!
Yummo. This is on my to-do list on Saturday afternoon when I’m not rushing around for school pick up or anything.
Healthy Crème Eggs by Chocolate Covered Katie
Ice cream in this one! Oooooh, perfect for dessert on Easter Sunday.
JL Fit Nutrition’s Hot Cross Pancakes
These pancakes by Julia from JL Fit Nutrition are featured on Natural Raw C’s insta page and oh, how perfect would these be for breaky over the long weekend. Here’s hoping hubby reads this and I can enjoy them in bed with a nice cup of tea and the paper.
Hot Cross Chocolate Bliss Balls by The Inspired Table
These look too good to just eat at Easter. I think they may make another appearance in the TfC kitchen very soon.
Now, kids, enjoy responsibly. Even though these are healthy, you can’t go tooooo nutso. Happy Easter everyone x
