So you just want a pair of new black tights. No print, nothing fancy, just a great pair of black tights that you can wear with anything, doing anything.
But there are soooo many brands and soooo many styles, how on earth do you choose?
Ask me 😉
Here are my favourite anything-but-basic black leggings.
Vie Active tights are always a great fit.
This new-ish style is a perfect basic. Thick stretchy compression fabric, highish waist, super comfy and one of my favourite legging features of all time (previously I’ve only found on lulu tights) – the thigh pocket! Somewhere to stash your phone when you’re running, or your key or some coffee cash.
I got mine from Fire & Shine where they have a couple of sizes left on sale. Or to the Vie Active site.
In love with these tights. Gorgeous matt fabric, no show-through, fab fit and the subtle logo and signature JAGGAD 8 stripe on the legs in black casually screams cool.
Get ‘em while you can, they’ve just been re-stocked on the JAGGAD site but not in huge volumes.
3. Dharma Bums DBX Full Length Compression
Great paneling lines that flatter your legs, awesome fabric and cut, a new basics contender from the usually bright-print specialists.
OK so these have a tiny little detail on the bottom of the leg (cute reflective dotty bits that make it safe – and pretty – to run in poor light) but they still count as ‘all black’ to me 😉
These tights are, as the name suggest, tight. Thick fabric that really sucks you up and holds you together. If you want to minimize the wobble, these are an awesome choice.
A great lightweight fabric with mesh panels to keep you cool, my much-loved thigh pocket and a little zipper pocket on the back, these are my go-to tights for running.
I love the high waist and (yes, again) the thigh pocket, but the real beauty of these tights lies in the strategic paneling, using different fabrics for different zones… so thicker fabric on the areas (your bum, basically!) that need more support, and more lightweight fabric in the areas you need a bit more freedom. Clever.
And as the name suggest, leaves you feeling held-in in, um, all the right places.
Yep, lulu black tights take up over half of my favourite list, what does that tell you? I love lululemon tights.
The fabric, the cut, the details… these full length tights are great for running in the colder weather because, you guessed it, there’s a thigh pocket haha!
Plus you can flip up the cuffs for some reflectivity. Love the luxtreme fabric to run in too. These are just a great go-with-everything full length tight.
There you go, ladies, confusion over, time to get back in black.
