So, Australia, the clocks have gone back. We are officially heading into darkness. If you want to carry on running during the darker months, you’ll need to make sure you can be seen as you’re pounding the pavement. Safety first, ladies. Reflective gear is a must as the light fades.
Usually when you’re choosing reflective running gear, it’s a purely functional purchase. Well, not any more… how’s this for a bit of light-reflecting inspo?
The clever designers at lululemon have a brand new way to get you reflective in their special edition lululemon Lucent run collection.
The collection consists of four key pieces – shorts, a tank, tights and a jacket – and uses technology and craftsmanship to embroider floral patterns onto the garments (courtesy of a Swiss embroiderer who normally works on haute couture lace, no less).
But not with any old thread. The thread they’re using actually reflects light. It’s been in development for some time and is a bit of a technological breakthrough. The way lulu are using it within embroidery on sportswear is a design first.
So your gear can be feminine at the same time as keeping you highly visible. Pretty cool, huh?
As always with lululemon products, there’s heaps of other technical benefits for each garment, over and above the reflectivity, like strategically placed perforations, adjustable waists and sweat-wicking fabrics.
I’ve been road testing the Lucent Ice Queen Tights, and they’re unreal.
The lace/mesh embroidery panel is super pretty in real life, delicate but strong at the same time. PLUS, these tights are high rise (love a high waist pant, I really do – you can run without fear of jelly belly or muffin top wobbles and work out at the gym without having to hitch them up every five minutes).
And they have an array of pockets, including zippered ones on your thigh where you can securely stash your phone, keys, whatever, while you run. I’m loving them.
Hop online or in-store to grab your fave piece before they run out the door.
Run out the door. Run… See what I did there?
