Running in the Summer in Australia is no walk in the park. With temperatures and humidity heading skywards, it’s important to time your workout right (early mornings all the way), hydrate to the max and choose your running gear carefully.
For me, ‘tis the season to get my legs out. I get so hot when I’m running, that shorts are the answer. How amazing does it feel to swap out the tights for the shorts?
Oh, and #faketan 😉
Fun fact: the only (yes only) shorts I run in are lululemon athletica.
For so many reasons:
- Fabric: four way stretch, please, nice and light
- Styles: they’re the most flattering I’ve found for my body shape
- Functionality: a girl needs pockets
- Choice of Length: if you’re tall like me, lulu has you totally covered, ladies
lululemon Hotty Hot Short
The Hotty Hot Short gives you extra room so you can move freely. With a secret stash pocket in the liner, reflective details and a soft waistband, they are great for running.
The fabric, like all lulu shorts, is sweat-wicking, four-way stretch and engineered to feel light and covered.
lululemon Run Times Shorts
The Run Times Shorts (I think my ultimate fave pair) are made with Swift Ultra fabric so there’s no bulk. They’re a great shape, similar to the classic Speed Short, but longer in length (4 inch inseam as opposed to 2 ½), so perfect for giants like me.
lululemon Tracker Short
I also love the Tracker Short, currently available in heaps of colours and cut a bit longer and looser if you don’t like your shorts too, well, short. Or tight.
These ones have the zippered pocket at the side rather than in the back waistband, so you don’t want anything too heavy in there, but a single key or card is fine, I find.
Add in a sweat-wicking, quick-drying, anti-stink Swiftly racerback, or a light and airy Sculpt muscle tank, and I’m ready to lace up and go.
My Tip: size up in the tanks if you like the loose, comfy feeling when you run.
lululemon Speed Wunder Tights
For those who prefer to stay in tights whatever the weather, why not try a pair in lulu’s new Nulux fabric.
A bit of technical wizardry has gone into this fabric to offer good coverage that feels super soft and lightweight whilst it supports. You get to wear tights, but don’t feel like they’re weighing you down or making you too hot.
Nulux fabric is also sweat-wicking and quick drying, hallelujah to that.
Check out the Speed Wunder Under tight… pop in store and ask to see the Nulux fabric, it’s one of those that needs to be felt and touched to really understand how delightful it is 😉
OK, that’s the gear sorted. Now you just need that water bottle, a great running track and some positive energy to take you the distance. Or in my case, a small miracle!
Run happy, lulu-lovers, run happy.
